Sekajja Agro Farm Limited (SAF) is a private Ugandan business first established as a sole proprietorship in 2017 and later incorporated as a limited liability company in 2020 and is an investee of Yield Fund Uganda. The company’s main coordination office is located at Kitetika Mutuba1 along Gayaza Road and has farms in Bombo, found in Luwero district, Kawuku in Wakiso district, Nakosi, Nagalama and Nama all in Mukono district, with a total commercial broiler capacity of 220,000 birds per cycle.

Additionally, the company is operating a broiler breeder farm in Kayunga district with a placement capacity of 20,000 broiler parents, currently running at about 50% of the total capacity with 10,000 female and 1,300 male broiler parents.

The company produces dressed chicken, live birds and poultry feeds. The Company distributes over 100 tons of chicken meat per month, marketed under the Abbas chicken brand, which is sold in their over 20 company outlets and over 10 agent shops distributed around major towns and outskirts of Kampala but with distribution arms in Jinja and Hoima towns in Eastern and Western parts of Uganda, respectively.

The company currently has a 500 tons per month feed mill and has a semi-automated slaughter facility to which the mature birds are slaughtered and processed into dressed frozen and chilled chicken products. The slaughter facility is attached to a cold room of 10MT capacity for storage with a current slaughtering capacity of up to 5000 birds daily but operating at 70% of installed capacity.

The company has heavily invested in the expansion of its operations through the construction of a state-of-the-art 1000 birds per hour (1000bph) slaughterhouse with a capacity of processing up to 20,000 birds per day in two production shifts. The expansion includes the installation of a 3-ton per hour feed mill with a capacity of producing over 50 tons of poultry feed per day in two production shifts.

Additionally, the company has certifications from UNBS and Halal from Uganda Muslim Supreme Council.

SAF is a member of Uganda Poultry Farmers’ Association.
